Computer Centre

The Computer Centre is a central facility of the University which caters to the various needs of the students, research scholars, faculty / scientist and staff members of the university. The Computer Centre has Agricultural Research Information System (ARIS) Cell, Network Room and Video Conference Room well equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software. The departments of different faculties, RAC Library, RVC Library, Central Library and Administrative Building are connected through high speed connectivity with 1 GBPS bandwidth provided under NKN Project, Government of India, which is functional since January 2013. The main purpose of the ARIS CELL is to empower the teaching, research and extension by use of Information technologies. In addition to this, training is one of the main activities of the Centre. Computer Centre is equipped with all modern cutting edge IT equipments. The campus has Wi-Fi connectivity in most of the departments/units of the University for easy access of Internet. At present more than 400 nodes are connected through LAN. It has got round the clock power backup with 24/7 high speed broadband Internet connectivity.

At present, two projects are running under the Computer Center which is as follows:

1. National Information System on Agricultural Education Network in India (NISAGENET), ICAR, New Delhi
2. All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), MHRD, New Delhi
NISAGENET: The National Information System on Agricultural Education Network in India (NISAGENET) was started in 2005 by IASRI after approval by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. With the support and supervision of the Education Division of ICAR, New Delhi, this project is being executed by the Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute (IASRI), New Delhi as Lead Center having collaboration with universities involved in imparting higher agricultural education in India. The National Information System on Agricultural Education Network in India (NISAGENET) portal is being maintained at the Central Server of IASRI, New Delhi and is accessible at http://www.iasri.res.in/Nisagenet/ to provide Country/State/University/College level reporting on agricultural education in India.

The Information Base of NISAGENET is comprises of all the activities of Agricultural Universities. The collection and uploading of data is made for all faculties/college/units of the University for the following six schedules to meet the requirement of NISAGENET project:

1. Academic Information – Schedule – I
2. Infrastructural Facilities – Schedule – II
3. Budget Information – Schedule – III
4. Manpower Information – Schedule – IV
5. Faculty Profile – Schedule – V
6. R&D Activities – Schedule – VI

All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE): This project has been initiated by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2011 to prepare sound database on a large and diverse system of higher education in the country. The survey covers all the institutions in the country engaged in imparting in the higher education. The activities of this project includes collection and uploading of data related to teaching and non-teaching man power, student enrollments, examinations, results, academic programmes, finance, student-teacher ratio and gender parity index for development of education sector. The data is uploaded every year at AISHE web portal www.aishe.nic.in.
